TEACHERS' PAGE

This activity requires individual and collaborative work. Students will work mostly on their own, with the teacher there to introduce the activity, to guide them throughtout, and to serve as a facilitator to ensure that the activity is running smoothly.

The benefits of this type of activity are that it gets students to brainstorm ideas, compare and contrast, and practice their writing skills, as well as their computer and Internet skills.

Variations to this project:

  • Have students choose the two countries they would like to research and conduct an Internet search using the Search Engines listed in the Resources For Students
  • The class could create a magazine for the classroom reference library with all the written articles, or a recipe book with all the traditional dishes from the different countries.
  • Have students prepare an oral presentation, a slide show (or any other multimedia presentation), or a news program to present the information they have gathered.
